About us

Founded by Gloria Masters, a survivor of 16 years of child sexual abuse and trafficking in New Zealand, Handing the Shame Back empowers survivors to share their stories. Welcome to our website, where you will find resources for support and healing, including Gloria’s story ‘On Angels Wings’.

Our story

The journey began in January 2022 with the launch of the Handing the Shame Back (HTSB) podcast and YouTube channel, which provide resources, interviews, and information for survivors of Child Sexual Abuse (CSA).

The overwhelming silence surrounding CSA made it apparent that much more support was needed.

While writing On Angels' Wings: My Flight from Trauma to Grace, Gloria Masters founded HTSB to share her story. Her goal was to offer hope by showing that if she could recover and heal, others could too.

Our goal is to reach as many survivors as possible, offering resources and a safe space for them to share their stories. We ensure they are seen, heard, and believed.

Our mission

  • We raise awareness of the impact child sexual abuse (CSA) has on survivors globally.

  • We create visibility for the significant number of adults who experience some form of CSA in their lifetime.

  • We normalise conversations around the silent epidemic that affects CSA survivors.

  • We strive to bring hope to our survivor community.
